Cory Knobel, Ph.D., is an industry leader and academic expert on arguably the most important issues facing businesses today: complex organizational change, and the management of large-scale systems and services.
Dr. Knobel formed Research At Work Consulting to give modern enterprises access to state-of-the-art science in information, design, and infrastructure. At RAW Consulting, he helps organizations navigate change caused by fluid market conditions, involving the transformation and management of people and processes, technology and data, and governance. Additionally, he has considerable project leadership experience, including:
- Designing recommender and reputation-system algorithms underlying highly visible and visited technology community-review sites.
- Coordinating national field and laboratory testing for capital medical-product redesign, marketing, and deployment.
- Training Fortune 500 technology clients in adapting product portfolios to new federal procurement standards.
An expert in the field of information science, Dr. Knobel has authored or co-authored over 30 publications in academic, professional and industry journals. An accomplished public speaker, he has presented more than 25 invited talks. He has served as a reviewer and associate editor for over 30 academic journals, university presses, and trade conferences. In addition to his expertise as a scientist, Dr. Knobel has managed professional teams ranging in size from small groups to more than 175 members. He has served as principal investigator and co-P.I. on research grants from the NSF, Qualcomm Institute, Intel Science and Technology Center for Social Computing, and UCI Center for Organizational Research.
He holds a doctorate in information from the University of Michigan, with additional graduate credentials and training in complex systems; applied statistics; science, technology, and society; and information management, economics, and policy.
